The SML721 S Axe Design Lab multi-scale electric from Ibanez is a slick blend of form and function. Its signature body shape—sculpted, lightweight and mahogany—is stronger and more musically responsive than guitars weighing twice as much. The SML721 S is built with a Nyatoh body for a bright tone and gorgeous appearance, paired with a Wizard maple/walnut neck and rosewood fretboard for balance and a focused mid-range. Q58 pickups, designed specifically for use in headless guitars, provide a clearly defined sound and facilitate excellent tonal balance through all frequencies. The lows are powerful without being muddy, and the highs are bright and clear, but never harsh. As a result, every single note within the chord structure is well defined and clearly audible. These pickups, with their tonal balance and extremely low noise performance work extremely well with both digital and analog effects. Additional features include Gotoh MG-T tuners, a Mono-rail bridge and a dyna-MIX10 switching system with Alter Switch. This is a 25"–25.5" multi-scale electric. The low-E string has a 25.5" scale which is the same as most of Ibanez guitars, but the High-E string has a shorter scale length at 25". This combination provides a better playability because it allows gentler string tensions over the plain strings, while not sacrificing the tightness of the wound strings. Also, the nut is vertical to the strings so there is no weird feelings or extreme finger stretching when playing chords on the lower frets.
