1968 saw the debut of the Telecaster Thinline—designed as a lighter new version of the Telecaster due to a shortage of lightweight ash bodywood. The guitar had hollow “wings” on either side of the body, with an f-hole on the bass side for a brilliant new look and warmly resonant tone. The ’68 Telecaster Thinline Journeyman Relic captures that year’s model in all its brilliance, with a few custom modifications including a Bigsby® B5 bridge and tailpiece for added vibrato. A semi-hollow Thinline mahogany or ash body wears a perfectly worn-in Journeyman Relic lacquer finish. The rift-sawn maple neck features a ’60s-style “oval C” profile, 9.5”-radius rift-sawn maple fingerboard and 21 narrow tall (6105) frets. Custom Shop hand-wound Twisted Tele® pickups provide extra-hot output for beautiful resonance and are hooked up to modern Telecaster wiring and three-way switch. Other features include a three-ply white pearl pickguard, Schaller® “F” tuning machines, bone nut, and wing string tree. Also includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.
