In 2008, Tiptop Audio released the first Eurorack DSP effects module, the Z5000—now updated 10+ years later, the Z5000 is a powerful multi-effect module capable of a variety of time and pitch based effects. Z5000 contains three banks, reverb, delay, and pitch/mod, each with eight effects. The reverb effects included take inspiration from reverbs spanning from the 1970's to today. These include algorithms such as plate, gated reverb, and void. The delay effects come from Tiptop's development of the delay Z-DSP cards, used with the Z-DSP. Delays range from tape echoes, chorus, and ping-pong. In addition to delay cards, the Z-DSP cards include pitch/mod effects that are included in the Z5000. These include flanger, ensemble, and microshift delay. The Z5000 features feedback/mod, time, filter, and fidelity controls and CV inputs. Fidelity controls the rate of the analog VCO clocking the Z5000. It can be modulated (up to audio rates) and causes everything from slight detuning to having the module descend into gnarly digital noise. The Z5000 is a great collection of useful and high-quality effects that are exciting and playable.
