Kala’s acclaimed super-short-scale bass building is infused with an all-electric twist with the 23.5-inch scale length Solidbody U-Bass. This 4-string instrument is a blast to play for bassists of all backgrounds, including small-framed beginners, and makes an excellent companion for Tiny Desk-style performances, compact stage spaces, road trips, rehearsals, and more. But don’t be fooled by its diminutive build. The Solidbody U-Bass is designed with playability at the forefront, which is why it’s structured with a comfortable “C”-shaped Canadian maple neck and 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. A custom all-okoume body with deep cutaways retains a solid weight and provides effortless access to every note you need. Meanwhile, a classic split-coil pickup with accompanying volume and tone controls generates the grooves, affording bassists access to virtually any tone, from tamed and plucky to bright and funky. Bassists have found the added touches of die-cast 18:1 tuners, a PPS nut, and a custom pickguard shape put the Solidbody U-Bass in a league of its own!
